An Epistle of Congratulations

Betrothal of Her Majesty Elizabeth I, Queen of all Caputians, and His Imperial Majesty Francis Joseph IV, Emperor of all Alexandrians

To Our Most Dearly Beloved Imperial and Royal Cousins:

Her Majesty Elizabeth I, Queen of all Caputians, Queen of Hamland and of Her Other Realms and Territories, Queen and Governor-General of Haifa, Supreme Governor of the Church of Caputia, Captain-General of all Caputia, Defender of the Faith, Uniter and Defender of the People;

His Imperial Majesty Francis Joseph IV, Emperor of all Alexandrians, Perpetual Defender of the People of Alexandria, Emperor of San Martin, King of Santander, Leifgrad-Baden, and Ibelin, Duke of Anglien, Gettinsburg, and New Acadia, Marquis of Nubinar, Count of Saransburg, and Baron of Reistag, Grand-Officer of the Ordre de la Grenade, and Grand Eagle of the Legion of Honor, and Sovereign of the Orders granted by the Empire; etc.

Your Majesty, Your Imperial Majesty;

In these dark days of grief and sorrow beyond imagination caused by the death of Our Most Dearly Beloved Brother Emperor Edgard II of the Alexandrians, the tidings of your betrothal is a bundle of rays of light which with its splendour and brilliance is driving out some of the all encompassing darkness in which We have been in ever since We learned of the aforesaid hateful news of His late Imperial Majesty's passing away. We therefore embrace with great satisfaction the opportunity which now presents itself to Us to congratulate Your Majesties on your pledge to tie the knot as well as the most favourable prospects it brings to your Houses Imperial and Royal.

Aside from obtaining the love, affection and support of a fine future spouse your engagement is also a prudent dynastical and political masterstoke which shall be mutually beneficial to your Houses Imperial and Royal. Our Most Dearly Beloved Nephew, the currently landless Emperor of the Alexandrians, will be joined in matrimony with the Queen of a ruling monarchy, causing the House of Carillo to be backed up by a sovereign country of its own again; as a member of the House of Carillo this is something that greatly pleases Us. Likewise will the House of Rothborne, the fledgeling Royal House of Caputia, marry into an ancient Imperial House, giving its prestige a tremendous boost as well as obtaining a seat on the High Table of Micras in the process.

As His Imperial Majesty has by the operation of Storish Law inherited the place of his late Lord Father in the Imperial Branch of the House of Ettlingar Freyu - with all the monies, properties, incomes, royalties, interests, lands, chattels, assets, legacies, rights and privileges thereto attached - the thought of the Queen Elizabeth I of Caputia becoming a member of the Imperial Family of the Lands of the Longships Throne is one that fills Our Heart Imperial and Royal with the profoundest of delight. Through the diplomatic dispatches sent to Us by Our Lady Great-granddaughter Her Imperial and Royal Highness the Storjarla Esther Fatima Gudrid Ayreon-Kalirion ibn al-Majeed bin Sathrati af Ettlingum Freyu of Waffel-Paine, the present Storish Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Union of Caputia, We have heard a lot of good things about Her Majesty. She reminds Us of the position where We were in long long ago, to wit: a challenging balancing act of uniting and rebuilding a war-torn country in order to forge a strong and stable State inhabited by a prosperous population. May Bous and Melusine lend unto Her Majesty the same support and aid in her regnal endeavours as We have received from the Ladies Divine Frigga, Freyja and Idunn!

We shall finish this Epistle of Ours with wishing Your Majesties a long and joyous marriage and that the Imperial Residence in Tiamat and Bellesea Palace in Zalae may be ringing with the sound of little feet fairly soon. The same applies to the Hall of Sunna in the Imperial City of Haraldsborg, the statutory seat of the House of Carillo in the Twenty-Six Jarldoms.

Given at the Court of the Three Ladies Divine, since time immemorial situated at the Vanadísarhall on the holy island in the sacred river Fulltrui Flow since ancient times known as Hnossa Isle which since the days of yore is seated within the bounds of Our Imperial City of Haraldsborg in Our Jarldom of Gularike, on this Day of the Lord Týr, the Thirtieth Day of the Month Noatun in the Seventeenth Year of the Second Viking Age in the Second Epoch of Our High Realm.

Your Cousin and (Good)uncle,

Haraldur Freyjugjöf af Ættingjunum Freyju, Yfirkonungur Stórmerkur
