Recommended Posts

Guest

FROM : THE LADY MARSHAL OF THE COURT

TO : HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY, THE EMPEROR

Your Imperial Majesty, Beloved Cousin,

I would suggest that the State Banquet become a day of celebration known as 'Vicereine Day'.

My initial ideas are as follows;

State Banquet given in honour of the Vicereine

11.00am - The Swearing-In Ceremony for the Vicereine

12.30pm - A Banquet Lunch given for the Vicereine at the Feast Hall

2pm - An Honourary Parade will take place in front of the Imperial Palace with various floats celebrating the appointment of the Vicereine. Guests will watch from a specially constructed Dais

2.45pm - The Emperor and the new Vicereine will appear on the balcony

3.15pm - A Classical Concert will be given in honour of the Vicereine

5.15pm - A Gift Presentation will take place

5.45pm - The Vicereine and Emperor will unveil a statue of Her Most Excellent Highness in the grounds of the Imperial Palace to commemorate the appointment of the Vicereine

7.15pm - Dancing will begin in the State Ballroom

8.30pm - State Banquet

11.15pm - Fireworks display

12.00am - 30 Gun Salute for the Vicereine

What are your thoughts Your Majesty?

Your Loving Cousin,

Anne-Marie

Well, we are living in 2005 Your Imperial Highness and the classical sometimes has to bend to the more popular.

Buckingham Palace often plays medleys of the Beatles whilst guests are at Dinner as well as other popular tunes.

LOL. I went to an investiture at the Palace - a friend of mine was getting an OBE and I went along as one of his 2 guests. It was an amazing experience and each time the recipient went up, a special piece of music was played. This was the same time as Liz Dawn recieved her MBE. Liz being in Coronation Street they played the theme tune as she was decorated! It was rather amusing and very special.

The Queen thought that sombre classical music killed the jolly atmosphere of a State Banquet and so she likes it to be broken up with popular tunes such as the Beatles and ABBA. They are, of course, played by the Household Band and so are the regal versions!

Good Evening To You, My Gentle Friends,

I think that Treisenberg-Sagolann should have a National Anthen . . .

Hmmm. The general rule I was going to use was that whoever is hosting the banquet has their national anthem played. As His Imperial Majesty is hosting the banquet, the Stormarkian National Anthem would be played.

As Sir Dagfinn pointed out, I was also not aware that Triesenberg-Sagolann had an official anthem.

I will consult His Majesty on this issue.

Your Imperial Majesty - thankyou for approving the drafts.

Sir Vali, please - it's my fault for the misunderstanding - I really must publish a guide to the Court.

Sorry I didn't post this before things were set...

But, I must protest the use of the religious terminology in the oath and the use of a Hymn.

These are, in my opinion, unacceptable in a government function.

"I, Birla Mottensdottir, shall serve my Emperor and my God faithfully

Immortal Invisible God Only Wise

Stormark has no official religion, and such expressions of religiosity are, in my opinion, inappropriate.

Your Imperial Highness,

Your comments are gratefully recieved and will be taken into consideration for future planning. However, these arrangements have been approved by the Emperor and work has begun to prepare for Vicereine Day.

In the future, reference to religion will be absent.

My Thanks,

Anne-Marie

Good Afternoon To You, My Dear Anne-Marie,

Oh Dear!!! . . .

I had not realized that We should not include Religion in the Oath for the Vicereine to take!!! . . .

But then, I suppose the concept of keeping Religion and Government in Separate Areas is to be considered in this case . . .

I see a compromise here...

Currently only Stormark has laws against seperation of state and religion, but Treisenberg-Ságolann perhaps doesn't.

As long as this is OK under Treisenberg-Ságolann laws (which I think) there will be no need for the Office of the Attorney General to do anything wink.gif

Ah, yes...

well, as that is the case, I won't press the issue...

However, those involved in such planning should be reminded that I take separation of church and state VERY seriously, and will challenge any use of religion in any government event.

Good Afternoon To You, My Gentle Friends,

Well, since there are those of us here in Stormark which take the Issue of Separation of Church and State to be very commensurate . . .

Then, I think that This Issue should be Honoured . . .

Each one of us has a right to believe Our Own Commitments in Our Hearts and Minds . . .

Therefore, I believe that The Issue of Separation of Church and State shoud indeed be Honoured . . .

Perhaps references to Church and references to the State should indeed be kept Separate in the Future . . .

Have a most thoughtful afternoon . . . forthwith . . .

This is also ok under the Laws of Stormark.

From the Separation of Church and State Act of 2004:

2. Imperial ceremonies such as coronations, investitures, etc. shall be modified to accomodate the faith and practices of their principal participants. All other persons are free to be absent from such ceremonies, without penalty.

In other words Lady Anne-Marie may include anything she wants as long as the principal participants approve.
