By the Sword

That would depend what the full sentence would be :)

Ah!! How do you then say "We live by the Sword" or something similar in Old Norse?

I'm afraid I have no idea. :(

It's a difficult sentence structure. I don't even know how to say it in Swedish...

Vi lever genom svärdet? I think that would be...semi-correct. Though it still sounds bad :P

I found this phrase online. Perhaps your phrase wasn't that bad at all.

Då sade Jesus till honom: ''Stick ditt svärd tillbaka i skidan: ty alla som taga till svärd skola förgöras genom svärd.''

Comparing that phrase to other Scandinavian (Norse) languages, I notice that they have another proposition. "before" or "for" is used instead of "by" and "through".

No help here.. hm.

Would it be possible for you to translate the spirit of the phrase into Old Norse of one of the Scandinavian (Norse) languages?

It would perhaps be possible, but when it comes to prepositions I'm really bad with the Norse languages. Because they're used differently in all languages.

I'll give you a Swedish version anyway (because that's at least a language I speak fluently):

Vi lever genom svärdet. -- lit. We live through the sword.

Vi lever genom svärden. --- lit. We live through the swords.

I'll make more research into it!
