Beloved Cousin,

Rejoicing the Emperor Day is a Stormarkian National Holiday. Rejoicing the Emperor Day is always, in accordance with the law, celebrated on September 23.

That is extremely useful to know Your Imperial Majesty.

Might I suggest Seasonal Festival Days? For example;

Spring Celebration Day

Summer Celebration Day

Autumn Celebration Day

Winter Celebration Day

??

This would add more holidays to the calendar as well as giving us a closer bond with the calendar and nature.

I'm glad you like it beloved cousin!

I would suggest these dates:

March 21 - Spring Celebration Day

June 21st - Summer Celebration Day

23rd September - Autumn Celebration Day

December 21 - Winter Celebration Day

I would suggest that Festivals take place with Carnival processions and special events. Summer Fares and Autumn Bonfires etc. smile.gif

Beloved Cousin,

Those dates are fine with Me. Rejoicing the Emperor Day and Autumn Celebration Day will, however, be combined because they are on the same day. I will issue a Proclamation declaring those days National Holidays shortly.

To join the Celebrations of Rejoicing the Emperor and Autumn Celebration Day;

At 12am during the Fireworks display 80,000 Leaves painted Gold will be launched into the Sky over the Lakes. Each leaf will have the word; Høst (Autumn) in black painted onto it.

A Specially constructed Longship will be launched into the Lakes and will drop a stone, inscribed with the word, "Sommer" (Summer) into the Lake, signifying the death of the old season.

------------------------------------------------

My Thanks darling Ragnhild. Your words always make me smile and give me the confidence and the inspiration to carry on and make each event the best it can be. I have oft checked the forums of Stormark but haven't applied for citizenship. I so regret that now - But now I am here. I am home!

Thankyou and My love is with you dearest Ragnhild!

A thought on the seasonal holidays...

It might be a nice touch to use the Viking-era names for the seasonal holidays.

March 21 - Spring Celebration Day (Disting or Ostara)

June 21st - Summer Celebration Day (Midsummer)

23rd September - Autumn Celebration Day (Loaf-Feast - or Celtic Lughnasa)

December 21 - Winter Celebration Day (Yule)

That's a wonderful idea Your Imperial Highness! I think it would be most in-line with Stormark's culture.

The spring and autumn celebrations don't seem to have exact names that have survived.

Ostara is more in tune with the timing of the spring festival as planned, but the Disting name is much more Norse.

Loaf-Feast is a translation of the surviving Celtic name for the autumn celebration (Lughnasa). If someone could track down a Norse translation for it, that might be best.
