THE JUDICIARY

 

The judiciary of the Viking Empire of Stormark shall consist of the Fimmtardómur and all such inferior courts the Althing may establish.

 

The Fimmtardómur shall be the court of last resort with power to determine the constitutionality of any law, order, regulation or official act. Provisions for the Fimmtardómur shall be decided by Act of Althing.

 

No extraordinary tribunal shall be established.

 

All judges shall be independent in the exercise of their conscience and shall be bound only by the High Law and the laws of the land.

 

 

All trials shall be conducted and judgment declared publicly.

Article I.

 

The judicial power of the Viking Empire shall be vested in the Fimmtardómur and all such inferior Law Courts as the Althing sees fit to establish. Provisions concerning the Fimmtardómur and the other Law Courts, if any, shall be laid down by Act of the Althing. No extraordinary tribunal shall be established.

 

Article II.

 

All judges shall be independent in the performance of their duties and shall be bound only by the High Law and the Laws of the Land. They may only be dismissed by the Althing for reasons laid down by Act of the Althing.

 

Article III.

 

The Fimmtardómur shall be the court of last resort with power to determine the constitutionality of any law, order, regulation or official act and shall sit in Haldarsvik Hall in the City of Haraldsborg or in such other place as it may from time to time determine. The decision of the Fimmtardómur shall in all cases be final and conclusive.

 

Article IV.

 

All trials shall be conducted and judgment declared publicly. Judgments and decisions rendered by the Law Courts shall be enforced in the name of the Emperor or Empress.
