High King Harald 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2010 How did Vinland survive the Age of Silence? Thanks to the prudent policies and the determination of the Chieftains who had invested the Imperial Funds that had been sent to Vinland after the Far Away Land had joined Stormark very heavily into upgrading the defense infrastucture of Vinland by, for example, erecting fortesses, issuing local defense forces as well as Chieftain's retinues with better arms and raising a coastal defense fleet. This way they managed to fend off the many predator nations, pirates and other opportunists who wanted to take advantage of Stormark's absence and hold their own until a Stormarkian fleet led by Prince Bjarngeir, then known as Sir Bjarngeir Thorkellsson, arrived and definitely defeated the predators. A pity I never got the opportunity to fight against the Katyushan Reds or the Erik's English Dogs!
