Wedding and Coronation Ceremony

Recommended Posts

* The sound of tens of thousands of trumpets, bagpipes and drums from guest bands hailing from all over Stormark is braying over the Thingvellir to signal the arrivals of Emperor Harald and Empress Sigrid for a very joyeus and unique event: the Wedding and Coronation Ceremony in which Emperor Harald and Empress Sigrid will wed each other followed by the Coronation of Empress Sigrid. Emperor Harald and Empress Sigrid had both been travelling from different directions and quite huge efforts had been made to ensure that they would arrive at the Thingvellir at the same time.

Empress Sigrid had been travelling in a magnificent golden tiger-drawn Imperial chariot driven by one of her Valkyries and was followed by Priestesses of the Temple of Frigga and a large number of her Valkyries, all on horseback. Emperor Harald had made the journey to the Thingvellir on horseback accompanied by Imperial Cuirassiers from the Alexandrian Guard and Norman Knights.

Emperor Harald and Empress Sigrid's routes to the Thingvellir were being lined by tens of thousands of soldiers dressed in traditional Viking ceremonial garb. Behind the lined up soldiers there were enormous crowds of enthousiasticly cheering people who were holding portraits of Emperor Harald and Empress Sigrid, waving Stormarkian flags, and throwing rose petals, birch leaves and confetti.

On the field within the perimeter on the Thingvellir where the Wedding and Coronation Ceremony is to take place Royalty, Nobililty and other prominent Citizens and Friends have assembled and taken their seats. The field is covered with cloth of gold, an expensive fabric woven with silk and gold thread. The perimeter itself, which is spanning a huge area, is made of golden rope resting on gold poles adorned with precious stones. The seats along the aisle leading to the elevated platform where the Wedding and Coronation Ceremony rituals will be performed are made of ebony and ivory and covered with precious soft materials. *

Having arrived at the Thingvellir, Emperor Harald dismounts and walks to Empress Sigrid's chariot. He lifts Empress Sigrid from the Imperial chariot and puts her on the ground. They hug and kiss each other tenderly, exchanging a couple of sweet words.

When Emperor Harald and Empress Sigrid have ceased their hugging and kissing a couple of attendants approach Empress Sigrid. They quickly and skilfully attach a very long train to her wedding and coronation dress. After the attendants have finished their work, Emperor Harald and Empress Sigrid commence walking towards the perimeter through an honour guard consisting of Huskarls and Musketeers from the Alexandrian Guard which is lining both of the sides of their path to the Wedding and Coronation Ceremony perimeter.

* Immediately as Emperor Harald and Empress Sigrid start walking towards the perimeter on the Thingvellir where the Wedding and Coronation Ceremony will take place the combined guest bands commence with playing the Imperial Anthem.

A Priestess of the Temple of Frigga and one of Empress Sigrid's Valkyries who are standing on the elevated platform within the Wedding and Coronation Ceremony perimeter jointly sing the Imperial Anthem. The Priestess of the Temple of Frigga sings the chorus, the Valkyrie the verses.

Temple Priestess:

"Battle-worn Freyja, the warmth in the cold

Calls half of the Einherjar into her fold.

Sweet, loving Freyja, who sheds tears of gold

For she cannot find her husband, Oð."

Valkyrie:

"Long, long ago, in a far-away land

Lived the bane of the Ases, who called themselves "Van."

They knew how to work with the earth, sun and sky,

And they made it rain when their fields had run dry."

Temple Priestess:

"Battle-worn Freyja, the warmth in the cold

Calls half of the Einherjar into her fold.

Sweet, loving Freyja, who sheds tears of gold

For she cannot find her husband, Oð."

Valkyrie:

"One day came the Æsir unto the Van’s glade,

Each bore in his hand a spear or a blade.

As they crept through the forest, no sound had they heard

'Til the sound of The Lady in the form a bird"

Temple Priestess:

"Battle-worn Freyja, the warmth in the cold

Calls half of the Einherjar into her fold.

Sweet, loving Freyja, who sheds tears of gold

For she cannot find her husband, Oð."

Valkyrie:

"As the Æsir and Vanir moistened the ground

A peaceful solution needed be found

An exchange for the folk of the other side’s kin

Let the two become one and let both the sides win"

Temple Priestess:

"Battle-worn Freyja, the warmth in the cold

Calls half of the Einherjar into her fold.

Sweet, loving Freyja, who sheds tears of gold

For she cannot find her husband, Oð."

Valkyrie:

"Together in Asgard did both the clans live

Each one to the other their strength did they give

With no single king or a queen on a throne

With the strength of sweet Freyja and the luck of her Stone"

Temple Priestess:

"Battle-worn Freyja, the warmth in the cold

Calls half of the Einherjar into her fold.

Sweet, loving Freyja, who sheds tears of gold

For she cannot find her husband, Oð." *
