With the Chairman of the Senate lacking a seat in the Althing, and the other members of the Senate having official roles in the ceremonies - indeed, it was Senator Harald's wedding! -- Aldin was the representative of Hurmu here at the Thingvellir.

He was greeted by the Crown Princess, also a friend of his from the Senate, and they promised each other not to mix in politics, despite recent debates in Hurmu about Hurmu's future.

Aldin was wearing a hunter's clothing, of an ilrunna, a sort of a long kilt going down to the feet from the waist, secured by a belst. His upper body, bare in following the Ísam tradition of being clothed to the season, was on the side opposite the heart patterned with red coloured motifs. This time however, he left his face was left clean.

Aldin's attire drew some attention, of course, but the law was the law and the law requiredd traditional dress from the place they came from.

The Lord-in-waiting that accompanied Aldin was a man of Aldin's age, somewhat older. Courteous as ever, the lord-in-waiting, Sagi Bjarnarson, took Aldin to his guest quarter which was was richly and luxoriously equipped. Aldin was served cold drinks to relieve the heat of this summer's day and they - Sagi and Aldin chatted away. Particularly, Sagi advised Aldin about the best places for mead in Haraldsborg. And to think about it, Aldin never had tasted mead!

After a long trip to the beautiful, ancient and gracious Viking Empire of Stormark, Jonas had arrived at the ceremony. Jonas reads the letter a last time.

"Hhmm. Harald has asked to dress traditional white-tie. What a luck that the stores were still open!"

*Arrives and waits for someone to welcome him*

Scott of Shireroth comes in, dressed in traditional Hyperborean finery, showers compliments on the royal couple, and then stands in the corner talking to Jonas.

"Ah, you showed up too?"

"Of course I showed up. Emperor Harald is my liege lord."

"He is?"

"Yes, he's the Baron of Kai-Raikoth in Shireroth. Not to mention a pretty nifty guy."

"And he throws a good party, too. This mead is excellent."

"So it is."

"I brought a nice new pair of matching horned helmets for the lovely couple."

"What? You bought them horned helmets? *I* bought them horned helmets."

"Ach! I guess everyone has the same idea trying to pick out gifts for Vikings."

"Well, now what?"

"You could just give them money."

"Isn't that supposedly rude?"

"Not to an emperor. You call it 'tribute' or something."

"Right. And isn't there a tradition that you give multiples of eighteen at a wedding?"

"I don't think that's a Stormark tradition."

"No, but I don't have any better idea. I'll call the treasury in Tala and tell them to get working on it."

*donates 180 erb to Harald's Shireroth account as a wedding present.*

[[OOC: Ok...I need to do this for two different characters...]]

Ionel Constantinescu

Ionel slipped into Thingvellir mostly unnoticed.

The Chairman of the Senate of the Lakes was dressed in typical Hurmu-Swnndyrrr formal apparel, meaning wearing very little at all. Aside from a simple tan kilt, the Hurmu-Swnndyrrr ytteirsal was bare, having no shirt or shoes (or even socks!). It made him feel very close to nature, even in the capital city of the Viking Empire.

The Thingvellir was busy with guests, which made Ionel uncomfortable, so he found a relatively isolated spot and closed his eyes to meditate until something required his attention.

Kostalan Rottsaa

Kostalan's cape flew brilliantly in the wind. He strode up to the Thingvellir, where he brushed down a few wild hairs with his hand before walking through the door.

He chose to combine the traditional dress of this people, the Free Swnndyrrr, and something a little more vibrant, marking his position as Duke of Brookshire. He wore simple red pants with red and gold body armor, with a flowing red cape and red head scarf. His ruby fox pendant hung from his neck. As was tradition among his people, he wore no footwear.

There were many familiar faces among the guests, and the Duke greeted them all in turn. After making the proper rounds, Kostalan spied another, more familiar face alone in the corner. He approached the meditating man and tapped his shoulder. "...Na...Nastel?"

"...Kostalan? It's been ages!" the other Swnndyrrr exclaimed in his native tongue.

"Indeed." Kostalan noted the lack of a fox pendant around his compatriots neck. "Where's your pendant? You've already given it away?"

"Yes, to my predecessor Chairman of the Senate. You still have yours? Are you not married?"

"I have yet to take a wife, friend. My pendant may take the same journey as yours, however. It seems cliche to give it to my partner, there must be a more meaningful fate."

"Mmm, yes. I've often felt the same."

The two Swnndyrrr continued conversing for quite some time, with the curious attempting to eavesdrop, only to be rewarded with a flowing, melodic language intermixed with the periodic bark or yelp.

Andreas the Wise is delighted to be invited to this ancient and powerful empire. It is only his second visit to Stomark, and he is still getting used to the Viking surrounds. He is dressed in white robe, with a few simple gold stars on the back the only concession towards his magical heritage. He has not been introduced to the bridge before, but recognises her instantly - besides having the most stunning blue-gold dress, she is the most beautiful lady in the room, and clearly a regal and dignified lady. He waits to be greeted, concealing his gift on his person.

*Archbishop Karisson tells the driver of his carriage to move faster. 'Please not late again..' On this most joyful of days, His Grace wishes not only to celebrate his friend and wisest sovereign, and the Imperial bride, but not to make his wife, the Crown Princess of Stormark, annoyed with another rushed entrance. Well, perhaps she'll understand with his regained leadership of Stormarkian Christianity. As the carriage pulls up, he looks down at his watch, and sighs that he has made it early to the event. He steps out, wearing a scarlet cassock, with golden buttons, scarlet sash, biretta, and Cletic pectoral cross, designed with Aoife in mind. He is followed by several priests so as to show the Emperor Harald the strength of the loyalty of the Viking Christians in the Empire, to himself, and to that of the new Empress. As he greets the guests, Archbishop Karrisson spots his dearly beloved wife, and slowly sneaks up on her, to give her a loving surprise.*

Christopher Octavius bows to Lady Aoife and greeted her. He is sporting a carmine red waistcoat over a white dress shirt, a buff sash around the waist with a sword belt fastened over it, a short ceremonial sword resting in its scabbard, black trousers, and black cloth slip-on shoes. Kaikian nobility used to dress like this all the time, though these days, when expected to dress nobly , the carmine red waistcoat is usually just added to what would otherwise be considered business casual attire. Since he heard that was expected to dress in the traditional style, however, Christopher made sure to include the whole thing, even down to the white socks which, peaking from under the trouser leg's hem, gave a sharp contrast between leg and foot. For some reason, that was considered fashionable.

After a moment of pause, he turns and directs attention to the young lady standing next to him. She is also dressed in a traditionally Kaikian style. A white blouse with a cross collar and loose cuffs at the end of long sleeves. An ankle-length skirt, the fabric a pale indigo with a subtle geometric pattern, secured high on the waist with a sash tied in a bow knot, the ends dangling down. Worn over this, a loose, ruddy-purple thigh-length jacket with wide, half-length sleeves, the front worn open.

"I would like to introduce you to my niece, Zoe Octavia." Christopher says.

His niece curtseys, saying, "pleased to meet you... ...Your Highness." There was a tone of unsureness to her voice.

After a bit of chit chat, the two drift away from Lady Aoife until they find a place to the side to look on at the assembling group of people. Zoe reaches up and ineffeminately scratches at her scalp through her short hair. Christopher has been leading Zoe around, introducing her to just about everyone there. He currently looks for someone that he hasn't yet.

"I know why you're here, but why exactly did you bring me along?" She asks.

"It's important that you get properly exposed to this kind of thing. I wasn't when I was your age because I wasn't the heir apparent, and so when it all landed in my lap, I was completely unprepared. I don't want you to be unprepared when it's your time."

There is a moment of silence amongst a greater commotion.

"What did you get for the royal couple?" Zoe asks.

"An old Tomann longsword. Absolutely massive. Seemed fitting."

"Mmm." Zoe intonates with a nod. She sees a couple of people that she suspects she hadn't been introduced to yet, but she isn't entirely sure. There are plenty enough people in attendance.

"Ah. I wonder how many high ranking Shirerithians you've met before." Christopher says, beginning to lead Zoe by the hand in the direction that she had been looking. Zoe quietly grumbles.

After having talked with Scott, Jonas decides to do the same.

"A tribute from me and my Barony for the Lady and Emperor."

"How much will you give, Jonas?" asks Scott.

"300 erb AND the helmets, as it is a Sermolotian tradition to do better then others." :emperor:

300 erb are donated (now Stormark is part of the Small Commonwealth economy: how is your currency called?).

Leo Dine strode into the room with the sheep he was using as a cloak billowing out dramatically. He wondered, not for the first time, why he had chosen to wear it today. The heat was almost ridiculous, relative to Elwynn of course, and to top it off the cloak had the unfortunate habit of baaing every so often. A few heads turned to witness the entry but just as soon returned to their own conversations. This is quite the party! He was impressed to say the least.

He overheard the Senechal and Scott discussing horned helmets as he walked by. Damn its on to plan B then. What did you get a Viking? It was at about that time that Leo noticed Lady Aoife greeting other guests. Making his way over was much simpler then he had though as the guests parted, startled no doubt by a sheep's head popping over his shoulder. "Down Philip! Your supposed to be a cloak!"

When it was his turn he executed a formal bow before the lady. "It is an honor to be here today my lady. As a gift I offer 20 tons of the best quality wool from the divine flocks from Nordland."

Nathan arrived in the Althing wearing the traditional court dress of Natopia, sans crown and robe to not upstage the happy couple on their special day.

fulldress.png

He walks up to Empress Sigrid after waiting in the long line of wellwishers and bows and kisses her hand. "You look absolutely astounding! Natopia's gift of our finest Tasneemian beef and blessed holy Athlonian butter should arrive by boat within the week. However, I would like to give you a finely crafted figurine of two goats standing side by side, their horns interlocked, a traditional symbol of marriage in Natopia. It is made primarily of Muckypucky jade with silver inlaid details and small diamonds studding the goats' collars."

Nathan then walked over to Emperor Harald and shook his hand while congratulating him on his lovely bride.

* Vilhelm Estridson Knytling wandered by the main gate of the Thingvellir. He was dressed in formal white-tie attire, though he seemed slightly disheveled, his hair unkempt. Mumbling to himself, scribbling things as well as dropping the occasional sheet of paper, he appeared quite immersed in his work as he bumped into the Lady Aoife who was busy welcoming guests. *

My Lady, I cannot excuse myself profusely enough! A pleasant surprise, to see you, marred by my preoccupancy. Excuse my clumsine-

* At this point Vilhelm looked around and noticed the great swarming mass of Stormarker and foreign noblemen, gentlemen and ladies, all convened for some special occasion that he was about to fathom. *

The Wedding and Coronation already? Surely not? What date is it- oh dear!

* Lady Aoife watched bemused as Vilhelm rushed forward into the Thingvellir to find himself a bathroom to make himself look halfway presentable. *

Seeing several others go forward to present their gifts, Andreas makes his way forward to bow before the Imperial couple. "Lady Aoife, I have heard rumours of your beauty, but truly, they are but a drop in the ocean compared to standing your presence. Emperor Harald is truly most lucky to have you."

Andreas clicks his fingers, and suddenly a cloak is upon his shoulders, blue as the ocean, with gold lining and the coat of arms of Stormark engraved upon the back. It billowed softly, as if blown about, but no breeze could be felt. "While I could never hope to match your radiance, I hope my humble gift may approach a small way towards that beauty," he says. He swirls the cloak over himself, and behold, when he pulls it back, he is clutching a large and ornately carved harp, every string a shimmering golden thread. He nods at it, and it starts playing a beautiful melody, plucking its own threads.

"This harp will play back any tune it has heard before, upon command. I hope you will find this of use, Lady Aoife." He nods at the harp again, and it moves, as if on invisible wheels, over to stand with the other gifts. He then turns back to the Imperial couple, fingering the clasp around his neck.

"For you, Emperor Harald, I give you this cloak," he says, taking it off, and holding it out. "It is light as linen, smooth as velvet, and will turn any bullet or arrow that may come against it. While I cannot guarantee it will withstand an ICBM, and sadly such things exist upon our world, it should still make some small contribution towards continuing your life, and the happiness of your Lady. As an added bonus, it tends to billow quite fetchingly, even when there is no wind." He adds the cloak to the pile of gifts, then goes back to talk to some of the visitors he knows.

Prince Augusto arrives to the celebration in white-tie, wearing his military medals, meets, greets and bows to Lady Aoife.

"This is such a wonderful ocassion, I wouldn't miss it for anything, how have you been milady?, it's been a long time since I been around.

Please let His Majesty know that my gift has arrived to their palace.

I could really have a drink, I see there are many well-known personalities, Octavius, Andreas and my old friend Nathan, one more thing I can ask for is to meet Princess Unna of Skálavík, I heard so much about the lady."

As he walks, he shakes hands with his good friend Nathan, shares a drink and advances to the Imperial couple. Bowing before them.

" Your Majesty, such a lovely bride you are indeed." while kisses her hand, then turns to the Emperor,

"Your Majesty, Harald, my friend, CONGRATULATIONS, you are a very fortunate one, I am very honoured to be invited and merry for this celebration"

As he walks from the couple, looks for another alexandrian in sight....

Edgard arrives at the ceremony, late as usual. We all know that behind every great leader there is a woman... probably rolling her eyes. This time it was no different. Iphigenie was with her husband, holding his hand as they walked in. "Mon p'tit bijou, we should have left an hour ago, I told you..." she said as Edgard lovingly interrupted her. "I know, ma chere. You know how I am. I like to be fashionably late to make a nice entrance." Both laughed, and Iphigenie turned to Edgard and said "You and your flair for the dramatic."
