Leaving the GSO

Recommended Posts

Honourable Senators of Hurmu, Knights and Ladies of the Holy Lakes,

I have the honour of proposing the following to you for your consideration.

Signed:

R. V. Andelarion

Chairman of the Senate

***************

The Senate of Hurmu,

Recalling the signature of Harald Thorstein, Senator, Paramount Chief and then Steward of Hurmu, to the Contract of the Geographical Standards Organisation (GSO) on the fifteenth day of August, 2006, which bound Hurmu to the said Contract,

Taking into account that Hurmu has had little interaction with the GSO, the map that the organisation has produced, and the fact that Hurmu has not at any point ever used the maps of the GSO in any official or unofficial capacity,

Regretting the apparent inability of the design committee of the GSO to produce updated maps and perform its duties under the Contract in respect to the changes that an ever-expanding organisation of states needs to reflect,

Also regretting that the reasoning behind the committees of the GSO in respect to the expansion of states’ territories, admission of new states and so, that by decency is required in order to secure the stability and longevity of the organisation,

Disturbed by the low levels of support that the GSO has among its members, as such that few states of activity decide to remain on the GSO solely, as well as the recent moves for non-confidence in the directorate and the committees,

Noting moves in the protector-state of Hurmu, Babkha, for leaving the GSO and the map that the organisation provides,

Recalling Article 8, subsection (iii), of the Contract of the GSO, which gives Hurmu the right to resign its membership in the organisation,

1. Declares that upon passage of this Law that Hurmu ceases to be a member-state of the GSO;

2. Directs Hurmu’s representative to the GSO to inform the GSO of the Hurmu’s decision to cease to be a member-state of the GSO.

I also support this move. I, however, would like to propose an amendment to this Bill. You may find it in the post below. The amendment is in bold.

I'm not familiar with the backgrounds of GSO and MCS. I'm following this thread with interest but won't interfere

What about this?

Regretting the issues that have been brought up in organisation, where the support for the design committee has fallen, and where the committee has been brought into disrepute,

Disturbed by the low levels of support that the GSO has among its members, as such that few states of activity decide to remain on the GSO solely, as well as the recent moves for non-confidence in the directorate and the committees,

Correction on a point of interest. The Kingdom of Babkha no longer plans to quit the GSO, although it does intend to apply in due course for a return to the MCS. In short like many other communities it intends to have the best of both worlds.
