Imperial Charter

The Grand and Glorious Imperial Order of the Two Silver Longships

WHEREAS there exists since days long gone by a Society of Honour instituted by Us for the purpose of uniting within a bond and brotherhood of chivalry according to venerable tradition and ancient custom certain individuals that We have deemed worthy;

AND WHEREAS the aforesaid Imperial Society of Chivalric Honour is since those ancient times known within the borders of the Twenty-Six Jarldoms as the Grand and Glorious Imperial Order of the Two Silver Longships;

AND WHEREAS the Charter that was granted by Us numerous moons ago to the aforementioned Chivalric Order is severely outdated;

AND WHEREAS it is Our present Imperial Wish and Desire to provide the aforesaid Grand and Glorious Imperial Order of the Two Silver Longships with a new Charter;

LET IT THEREFORE BE KNOWN that We do, by this Our Imperial Instrument, in the exercise of Our Most Ancient Prerogative Imperial, declare that:

Eins. Upon the coming into effect of this Our Imperial Instrument, the Imperial Society of Chivalric Honour which is since ancient times known within the borders of Lands of the Longships Throne as the Grand and Glorious Imperial Order of the Two Silver Longships shall remain in existance. The Charter that was granted by Us to the aforesaid Chivalric Order on the Thirteenth Day of the Month Himinbjorg in the Second Year of the Second Viking Age in the First Epoch of Our High Realm shall at the self-same instance be repealed, suppressed, and superseded by this Our Imperial Instrument.


Tveir. The Grand and Glorious Imperial Order of the Two Silver Longships shall continue to be, together with the Most Beloved and Most Blessed Imperial Order of the Fulltrui, for and in perpetuity, the Supreme Order of Chivalry of the Twenty-Six Jarldoms.

Thrír. We shall continue to be the Sovereign and Grand Master of the Grand and Glorious Imperial Order of the Two Silver Longships (hereafter "the Order") and shall be at liberty to bestow the Order upon any worthy individual We please.

Fjórir. All anterior bestowments of the Order which were made by Us are hereby confirmed by Ourselves and shall stand until Our further Pleasure is signified.

Fimm. The State Hall of the Vanadísarhall which is known since time immemorial as the Hall of the Longships shall continue to be the Chapter House of the Order.

Sex. The Order shall continue to be made up of a single class, that of Thegn Companion.

Sjö. The motto of the Order shall be "Fra Havet, Storhed".

Átta. The power and prerogative of granting and conferring the offices, ranks, titles, and degrees of the Order shall pertain to Us, and the same shall apply to power of:

dismissing and degrading the occupants and possessors of said offices, ranks, titles, and degrees within the Order;

establishing, modifying, and repealing the Statutes and Regulations of the Order.

We shall also be at liberty to establish the customs, insignia, symbols, feasts as well as other days of observance of the Order.

Níu. Any member of the Order shall be a counsellor of Ours and shall have the ancient right of requesting and be granted an audience of Us, and to lay before Us, with decency and respect, such matters as (s)he shall judge of importance to the public weal of the Twenty-Six Jarldoms.

Tíu. All members of the Order shall have and enjoy the privilege of:

the hospitality of Our Halls;

quartering the Imperial Arms of Stormark with their own Arms;
using the collar of the Order in their Arms;

attending all Imperial Functions;

flying the Longships Banner;

having a rune-stone erected in zir memory after zir demise in or near the Godsgrove of Harald's Holdfast.

 

Ellefu. The members of the Order shall have the duty to:

provide any fellow member of the Order in need with all reasonable aid, assistance and counsel;

defend, protect, and uphold the dignity, honour and esteem of the Order.

Tólf. Any member of the Order may be stripped of zir membership in the Order by Us, provided always that such action shall be undertaken only in the case of a conviction of Treason, Lèse-Majesté, Subversion, other grave or high crimes, or in the case of conduct unbecoming a Thegn.

Þrettán. This Our Imperial Instrument shall come into effect immediately.

So be it!!

Given at the Court of the Three Ladies Divine, since time immemorial situated at the Vanadísarhall on the holy island in the sacred river Fulltrui Flow since ancient times known as Hnossa Isle which since the days of yore is seated within the bounds of Our Imperial City of Haraldsborg in Our Jarldom of Gularike, on this Day of the Ladies Divine Frigga, Freyja and Idunn, Fulltrui and Sacred Queens of Stormark since time immemorial, the Thirtieth Day of the Month Sessrumnir in Folkvanger in the Fourteenth Year of the Second Viking Age in the Second Epoch of Our High Realm.
