To the Wedding Table!

Recommended Posts

Sadly there is no member of the opposite sex that I am related to.

Whatever the legalities, I do not count the Blutwasser litter to be my lineage... but I will not curse the Gods... what they have in store I must be patient for. But they are not my family. Benjamin is, however. Him I love with my heart and soul. I would protect him with all that I am.

That said, still no one in my family that would be eligible to escort me, according to tradition.

Prince Jonathan,

There is precedent under customary law which provides you with a solution.

When I married King Arkadius III of Batavia, he did not have any female blood-relative to bring him to the Wedding Table so he chose a Lady with the closest connection to him and that was Storjarla Ærinndís, the High King's sister and widow of his uncle King Arkadius I.

In other words: there is choice aplenty for you from among the several Ladies Imperial and Royal of the House of Ettlingar Freyu. I'm sure each of them will be honoured to escort you to the Wedding Table. :)

I thought you already had a son, my Lady...

That son of mine is no longer among the living since he perished in the chaos of the collapsing Kingdom of Batavia.

My Ladies

I have reconnected with a distant relative, Lady Noor bint Daniyâl, daughter to Prince Daniyâl (Daniel Simrani-Kalirion), who will be delighted to bring me to the table. The intention is that this will help reonciliation between the various branches of the Ayreon-Kalirion dynasty.

My Darling Jonathan,

That is some very good news indeed. All of me is very happy for all of you. :)

When may all of me meet the Lady Noor bint Daniyâl?

A High Priestess wonders where the Prince Jonathan found the Lady Noor bint Daniyâl?

Somewhere in the Deep South of Elwynn?

She resides in Beebullahabad, a major city on the banks of the Blue Elwynn not far at all from Ardashirshahr. As members of the Elwynnese aristocracy, they are known and famous, so it was no difficulty in knowing where she lives. But due to the bad blood, forgive me for the expression, in the house, we haven't had any contact.

Prince Jonathan accidently bumped into the Lady Noor bint Daniyâl when visiting Beebullahabad with a friend. The above is some footage of their first encounter. ;)

The Lady Noor bint Dâniyâl Simrâni-Kaliriyûn ibn al Majeed bin Sathrati, born in 1604, is one year younger than me.

At an art exhibition in Elinfinshiyehafîr, we saw each other last year for the first time. All by accident. Naturally we both recognized each other. But as we spoke privately, we found that we shared a great deal. She and I were both financial supporters of the gallery in question, and both of us loved the artwork of the Elwynnese surrealist Hania Kârtis, in whose honour that night's exhibition was. We had similar political leanings, we were both "closeted independentists" (in Elwynnese politics, pro-independence but never acting it out). She confided in me that she does not have much contact with the rest of her family. Her father rarely speaks with her, and her sisters, Isabella and Miranda do not really share her cultural Babkhi identity and interests (as they do not share mother with Noor). That she considers herself spiritual and religious also makes her the black sheep of her immediate family (who is atheist).

My Lady,

I would say that about two thirds of the population desire an independent Elwynn. That said, however, it is not a political point most parties make when they contest elections. Although there are no longer national elections in Elwynn, there are many local municipal elections in which the Elwynnese political parties compete. The Ayreonist Independence Party, seen as the most dominant independence party, has about a national average voting share of 15%. The other parties have factions that are pro-independence but none very strong.

A High Priestess wonders whether the pro-independence movement has grown stronger now that Elwynn is under the excellent leadership of the Storjarl Hallbjörn?

I believe so, my Lady

A High Priestess wishes to convey that she is not too surprised about that since Elwynn is thriving and the other Imperial States are just like ghost towns.

She also wonders whether the pro-independence movement could become so strong that it would become inevitable that Elwynn would make that leap of faith?
